Acupuncture Brings Balance to the Body and Promotes Healing Naturally

Acupuncture is a medication-free treatment that can provide lasting benefits. The proof of acupuncture’s effectiveness is in its longevity. According to Chinese Medicine, energy in our bodies flow through channels called meridians.  This energy called Qi, pronounced as “chee”, can get blocked and out of balance, leading to illness.  These blockages can be caused by external factors (such as cold, damp weather, physical trauma, etc.) or internal factors (such as stress, unhealthy diets, etc.).

Acupuncture needles are about the width of two to three strands of hair and are actually quite flexible. Often people are surprised how little they feel both at insertion and after they are in place. In fact, it is not uncommon for patients to become so relaxed, they fall asleep! It usually takes multiple treatments to see lasting results, depending on the patient and most usually notice a general relaxation after the treatment.

Our Licensed Acupuncturists

Betty Chang, LAc, LMT

Betty received her Masters degree in Oriental Medicine, encompassing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, in 2018 from the Maryland University of Integrative Health in Laurel, MD. She has been trained in two different types of acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, or medicinal skin scraping, and moxibustion, a form of heat therapy great for blood circulation, boosting the immune system, and energy flow. Her experience of being a massage therapist prior to receiving her acupuncture license has aided her in refining her skills when offering a healing presence and a safe and comforting space for all patients.

Betty has a genuine passion for helping and serving others; and helping them achieve an optimal level of healthy living. She honors every individual coming to seek care, and the treatments are uniquely designed for one’s specific needs. Acupuncture is a natural, safe, and holistic treatment that can support one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state of being. Oftentimes, Betty integrates her acupuncture and massage skills to give a therapeutic, restorative and effective treatment. She has experience treating many conditions including: body, joint, and nerve pain; acute and chronic fatigue, sleep, digestive, and hormonal issues, including women’s health; as well as emotional imbalances, like anxiety, depression, fear, and worry. Betty’s ultimate goal is to help facilitate the body’s natural ability to heal itself, and for people to feel like themselves again.

Joni Osborn, LAc, Dipl OM

Dr. Joni Osborn has been involved in the wellness community since 1988. After five years on Wall Street and an award-winning sales career in the world of residential real estate, she changed course to professionally pursue her passion for wellness. She studied Nutrition Science with a Dietetics specialty at Montclair State University in New Jersey, and then began working as a personal trainer and health coach. In 2010, Joni began to feel the call to combine her passions and to delve more deeply into the world of holistic wellness. After experiencing firsthand the healing and life changing effects of East Asian medicine, Joni decided to further pursue the healing arts. Along with earning her Doctorate in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science, out of Chicago and San Diego, she has gone on to become a certified hypnotherapist, Reiki practitioner and motivational coach. In 2019, Joni began traveling to Bali, Costa Rica, and Vancouver, BC as an acupuncturist and speaker.

Joni brings her unique insight into many of the issues that are of concern in today’s population. Marrying ancient wisdom with an understanding of modern stressors, she has a great appreciation for the collaboration of East and West. Before returning to her home state of Maryland, Joni worked as a lead acupuncturist in Chicago with a large integrative practice of 17 clinics, collaborating with chiropractors, functional medicine doctors, massage therapists, and other acupuncturists. She then moved to Colorado and opened her own practice, working once again in an integrative environment.  Joni has been trained in Motor Point Theory and specializes in injury and pain management, autoimmune disorders (such as fibromyalgia), emotional health, women’s health, fertility, and cosmetic acupuncture. She is an advocate for an intentional lifestyle and is passionate about helping her clients experience their highest quality of life.

When she’s not working, Joni loves being outdoors, especially on the beach. She enjoys working out with kettlebells, hiking, cycling, practicing yoga, and has recently returned to surfing. She is a published writer and avid reader and loves travel and interior design. She believes that laughter is an important part of any health regime and enjoys a good, philosophical discussion with friends.
